I received many feedbacks from longer-serving as well as new members that I sum up below. I think they give interesting insights on the way the previous setup was impacting the member experience and clashing with our mission, values and my vision:
- new members go through a long onboarding process to join our private and curated community, being asked to join a closed space can be a source of doubts and uncertainty,
- members in a self-discovery journey question their belonging to such or such sub-community and miss on conversations that would help them affirm themselves,
- all members are missing out on the existence of conversations they are not invited to, I believe they would greatly benefit from knowing that these conversations exist,
- assigning a private space to a sub-community frames conversations in this space and some members feel they are not welcomed to start them it if they're not in the space.
